The Open System
The Open System is based on ventilation, unlike the majority of solutions used in the uk.
The most hygienic method of collecting food waste is not the lidded caddy/bio-plastic liner that is generally used in the UK.
The lidded caddy prevents ventilation and causes moisture to form within the caddy.
This then creates smells and causes bacteria to form outside the liner which leads to a very unpleasant container.
This also leads to premature breakdown of the liner itself.
The Open System is based on ventilation.
When a paper bag is used and properly vented there is no moisture for smells or bacteria to live on and the waste within the bag dries out quickly to create a much more pleasant collection method.
